Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a class of drugs particularly used in gastric disorders. They promote a decrease on gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPases. Osteoclasts are cells specialized in bone resorption by H+ translocation to the bone surface.
